Who is Douglas Diamond?
Stockholm crooner (born in Gothenburg), sin city mafia, full-time lover. Douglas Diamond's music has been described as ''David Bowie goes Nashville instead of Berlin'' - referring to the year 1976, when Bowie moved from LA to Berlin to get clean from drugs and seek a new sound. Nashville is said to be the capital of Country music, a genre which is commonly described as ''three chords and the truth''. Douglas Diamond's music is a lot of chords and partial truth. The sweet seventies are a constant aesthetic source in Diamond's music. The decade when there was a global oil crisis and the beginning of the social decadence that would later characterize the following decades, and particularly influence the music. Hence the name Douglas Diamond, a nod to this beautiful plastic world, and showbiz.
In late 2019, Diamond began to work on what would become his debut solo album, Rare Love. It was released September 4th 2020, and to critical success (spiritually speaking). The record was compared to the sounds of previously mentioned Bowie, Todd Rundgren and The Band by music blogs. After a few years of songwriting and soul-seeking, Diamond came back with the groovy double single Sound of Music/Never Too Late, released early 2023. A mix of vicious garage rock and Beatlesque psychedelia. Almost two years later, the second full-length album would be released, Year of the Dragon, December 6th 2024, together with sold out release party at Scalateatern in Stockholm. The record is about the godlike and the sinful experiences throughout life, and is available for purchase, as with all the previous releases, at bandcamp and for streaming everywhere.
The new single released June 6th 2025 is not on any major streaming service, however. Ballad of a Big Town is released exclusively on Civil Radio, an underground streaming service created by the world famous Stockholm band Civil Polis, as a brave attempt to destabilize the monopoly Spotify has on music streaming, at least on a microcosmic scale. The second single I Found Jesus was released August 15th. Why not Spotify? It is time to organize ourselves against the big corporations and conglomerates that are shaping humanity into the soulless mass we all are well on our way to becoming. This is one way of doing it.
An unknown source says a new album is finished and is bound to release the fall of 2025.
In his impressionistic lyrics, the Stockholm crooner deals with the love-hate of the internet and city life, pleasure-seeking in the modern world and virtual expressions of love. The tech boom, decadence and modern spirituality are ever-present themes in Diamond's songwriting, where the worn out theme of love is often used as a medium to express social criticism. I know it sounds like absolute bullshit but I swear it's true. Being a multi-instrumentalist, Diamond makes all the music on his own. Douglas Diamond is a 25-year-old songwriter, artist and producer, currently based in Stockholm. The Douglas Diamond Enterprise brand is 100% independent.
When it's showtime on stage, Diamond brings with him some of Stockholm's top elite musicians, with members from La La Superstar, Mama Sonic, Madminton, and Bromander. Don't miss the chance to experience this live!
Douglas Diamond is also associated with La La Superstar, Spice 99 and as an agent of the Civil Polis organization.
